Vietnam Needs You

We have lots of goodness today!

Hey Vietnam Teacher! 👋

How has your week been?

Have you had your morning Pho?

Today’s newsletter will dive into the great CELTA Vs TEFL debate.

We’ll also share jobs you might want to have your eye on.

We’ll look at your New Vietnam Teacher playbook.

Sound good? Let’s go…

‘Last weekend, a friend from Australia came to visit. He and his chums took me somewhere I’d never been before. In District 10, not too far from District One, it was a place called XPOSE. It was a nightclub with free-flow beer and all the food you can eat for $11.57. Not a bad deal. And the food was pretty good. Check it out one time. Everyone was super friendly, and the atmosphere was great. A bit noisy, though!’

CELTA Vs. TEFL

So folks. You’ve asked yourself this question a million times? CELTA or TEFL?

I always tell teachers to take the CELTA. You'll get real classroom experience and meet like-minded educators who will stay your friends forever. Ahhh.

But it is a steep investment in time and money.

TBH, I don’t remember much from my CELTA, but it opened doors. Employers love CELTA-qualified teachers. You're doing what is expected of you.

You always learn more on the job than any certification. It’s a confidence builder, giving you real-world classroom experience.

But the TEFL route might be for you if you don’t have the time or money.

If Vietnam is your destination, we recommend Ninja Teacher. They offer both online and classroom courses. The classroom cohort guarantees a job, which takes much of the anxiety away.

But you have to make your way to Vietnam to do it.

You can check out the different Ninja Teacher options below (Psss…. they are accredited.)

Jobs to wet your whistle

The new Vietnam Teacher playbook.

Everyone has to start somewhere. But YOU need to WANT it.

Getting your first teaching gig abroad can be overwhelming.

Saying goodbyes to family and friends hurts the heart.

If you're ready to take the plunge, all you need to do is make it happen—and it will happen.

Jobs are in abundance. Vietnam needs teachers like you. So what are you waiting for?

  • Get qualified: As we said, we recommend getting a CELTA. You'll hit the ground running, and employers will hire someone who has completed a CELTA over an online TEFL.

  • Get your first job: ILA or VUS are good places to start. You'll learn fast and be well-supported in your new role. They also hire new teachers!

  • Live your best life in Vietnam: Enjoy exploring Vietnam, socialising with coworkers, and getting a lovely apartment. And remember to try all the great food!

  • Vietnam Teacher will create a welcome package for new teachers coming to Vietnam in the future. Stay tuned. We’ll let you know when it’s up and running.

Join us next Sunday as we explore Vietnam Teacher Goodness more. Thanks for reading!
